Walking and mountain bike trails, we are right on the waikato river trails with over 50 kms of well-formed
trails with board walks and swing bridges, Easy going to the more advanced it’s
all here, the trails wind their way along river flats merging into a number of picturesque
hydro lakes. Admire the mighty hydro Dams there are four with in a day’s walk or
ride of That Dam Lodge.

Shuttle waikato river trails
yes we offer a shuttle from the lodge for our guests,we will shuttle bunny in your car , or we can arrange shuttle services for larger groups we will drop you off on the
waikato river trail so you only need to do a one way trip back to the lodge, we can offer packed
lunch from The Dam Café and home cooked meals at night, ask about package room and
meal deals.
Pureora Forest Park straddles the Hauhungaroa and Rangitoto Ranges between Lake
Taupo and TeKuiti. It is a hidden wonderland of tall trees, clear rivers and rare
wildlife. There are many Walking and Mountain bike trails, the park is only 30 minutes
drive from That Dam Lodge.
The hydro lakes hold lots of fresh water fish
We have canoes and kayaks for hire if required
That Dam Lodge is a great place to base camp. World famous
Grate Lake Taupo
is only 30 minutes’ drive, the western bays fishing is
just up the road.
Hunting
Pigs and Red Deer Roam the Pureora Forest Park also the pine forests near by hold
good numbers of pigs hunting permits are required.
Water Skiing
Lake Whakamaru is one of the best Water ski wake boarding locations around the lake
winds around massive tree lined cliffs 19 kms up stream. You will always find flat
water somewhere, even Yogi Bear stopped by for a ski. There are two good sealed
boat ramps near by, We have two self-contained, three bedroom cottages these are
great for the family ski weekend
